With the summer starting most of us ‘road warriors’ are happy to see our calendars free up and business trips slow down. Now is the time when we’re able to do what we really love and experience travel on our own terms with authenticity in mind.
This is when the Obligation Meeter side of us gives the steering wheel to our inner Cultural Purist (yes, that’s me) and lets them do the driving. Alternatively, some of us embrace our Simplicity Searcher side and seek transparency and seamless travel.
Whatever Traveller Tribe you personally belong to, one thing is clear; Managed travel 3.0 is on the horizon and travellers will increasingly expect travel management companies to know what their needs are and be able to cater to them accordingly.
Travellers will want to be inspired by new apps and experiences – like using Uber for the first time or enjoying real-life connections thanks to peer-to-peer players like Airbnb. They’ll also expect recommendations from travellers like me to truly create the journey they envision.
However, it takes a lot of time and effort to get all of the elements right, so travellers will always value a helping hand to manage their trips. I wouldn’t want a re-run of the Paris Uber strikes or to be left to fend for myself whilst reorganising a trip to London thanks to the air traffic controllers!
We can achieve a better travel experience for our clients by embracing technology and leveraging the Big Data power that’s behind the GDS. Now’s the time for us to collectively get ready for Managed travel 3.0 as our clients, the corporate citizens of tomorrow, will expect a smooth, informed, connected and personalised travel experience.
Stay tuned, more to come soon! Have a look at our Managed travel 3.0 site for additional insights.
